Responding to West Virginia v. EPA:
The decision in West Virginia v. EPA undermines efforts to reduce greenhouse gas pollution from coal and gas fired power plants using the Clean Air Act. But it doesn’t erode Biden’s executive authority to act on the People vs Fossil Fuels coalition demands to declare a climate emergency and stop approving fossil fuel projects.

#NoNewLeases Messaging + Social Toolkit:
Throughout June 2022, Biden’s administration rolled out a series of disastrous decisions for more oil and gas drilling on federal lands and waters. This toolkit provides sample posts for social media, ways to take action (including a petition, call-in tool, and video message), and core messages to uplift our demands for Biden to end federal fossil fuel leasing once and for all.

Amplifying the Congressional Progressive Caucus
In April 2022, the Congressional Progressive Caucus (CPC) called on President Biden to use his executive powers to declare a national climate emergency; turbo-charge renewable energy deployment; and ban fossil fuel leasing on all federal lands and waters. This was a momentous moment in our movement to end fossil fuel expansion. We used this toolkit to amplify the platform that CPC released, which included many of our coalition demands.

Responding to Biden’s US-EU Gas Exports Dirty Deal
In April 2022, President Biden and European leaders announced a deal aimed at ramping up fracked gas (LNG) exports to Europe in response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and the resulting energy crisis. The coalition built this toolkit to amplify calls from Gulf Coast community leaders opposing any expansion of LNG infrastructure – a false solution backed by Big Oil that will do nothing to help the crisis in Europe.

In March 2022, our coalition held our POTUS ON NOTICE digital rally. We used this toolkit to promote the digital event. It includes sample posts, a video, and graphics.

Responding to the Climate Emergency + War in Ukraine
The invasion of Ukraine in February of 2022 was a stark illustration of how fossil fuels directly enable global conflict and threaten democracy in addition to driving the climate emergency. Our coalition urged the Biden administration to resist bad faith attempts to lock in future fossil fuel exploitation and dependence by invoking the Defense Production Act (DPA) to ramp up the deployment of renewable energy, and stop existing fossil fuel infrastructure to ensure a just transition off fossil fuels. This toolkit provides sample posts for social media, ways to take action (including a petition and LTE guide), and core talking points.

[Amplification Toolkit] BBFF 2022 Sign-on Letter
At the beginning of 2022, the Build Back Fossil Free campaign organized a huge letter to Biden reiterating our demands for bold executive action to keep fossil fuels in the ground. This toolkit was used to help amplify the letter release and delivery of a gigantic pen and executive order to the White House.
